Have you heard about Carvertise? It’s a company that pays you to advertise on your car.
I’m going to be honest with you, sometimes I hear about side hustles that sound like they could be scams. Getting paid to advertise on your car was one of those – until I came across Carvertise.
Carvertise is a legit company that pays you to put advertisements on your car. I emphasized legit because there are scams out there. Don’t worry, I’ll explain more about scams later in my Carvetise review.
Again, I was skeptical, but this is actually easy money. I know what you’re thinking… what’s the catch? Well, you’ll be driving around in a giant advertisement, so there’s that.
But if you’re up for it, my Carvertise review will explain more about this company, how it works, how much you can make with Carvetise, how to watch out for scams, and more.

What is Carvertise?
Carvertise is a marketing firm that pays high mileage drivers to wrap their cars with ad decals. Carvertise has been around since 2012, and they work to pair drivers with brands that are driving to advertise in specific markets.
Carvertise isn’t just putting a few stickers on your car. These are full or partial wraps that cover 50% or more of your car’s surface. The decals are all professionally installed, they don’t obstruct your field of vision, and they’re removed so there’s no damage done to your vehicle.
Wait, so companies will pay you to advertise on your car? Yep, they seriously will.
You can make money advertising on your car because vehicle wraps are actually a really effective way for brands to advertise.
Some pretty solid statistics back up what Carvertise is doing, including:
- A 2019 Neilsen study showing that wrapped cars are more memorable than buses, billboards, and taxis
- Messages on outdoor mobile billboards have a 97% recall rate according to research done by RYP & Becker
- Car wraps can boost overall marketing ROI by 40% according to the Outdoor Advertising Association of America
As far as side hustles go, this is fairly easy, passive income, meaning you’re not trading time for money.
Carvertise driver requirements
Before signing up, you’ll need to meet a few driver requirements:
- You drive at least 30 miles a day
- Clean driving record
- 2008 model year car or newer
- Factory paint job
The requirement to be a high mileage driver will automatically eliminate some people who only drive occasionally or short distances. But for rideshare drivers or people who drive for on-demand food delivery services, Carvertise could be a way to boost your income.
However, if you do drive for a company like Lyft, Uber, DoorDash, UberEats, Instacart, Shipt, etc. you should check with the company before applying for Carvertise. Some companies allow car wraps, some allow it based on location, and others don’t allow it at all. You’ll want to read the terms of service for the company you’re contracting for before proceeding.
How to sign up with Carvertise
You can apply for Carvertise here, and the steps are pretty simple after that:
- Click on “Become a Driver”
- Enter personal information, like name, email address, where you live
- Fill out the information about your car, including make, model, year, color, etc.
- Average the number of miles you drive during weekdays and weekends
- Tell Carvertise if you’re a rideshare or food delivery driver
- Let them know how you heard about their company
Carvertise will go over your application and see if they can match you with a campaign. That part is important to remember – getting paid to wrap your car depends on whether or not brands are actively running campaigns in your area.
When Carvetise matches you with a campaign, you have two options: set up an appointment to have your car wrapped or turn down the campaign.
Part of Carvertise’s business model is that drivers aren’t committed to every campaign that comes their way. You might have some kind of moral or ethical dispute with the brand, or you just might now want a giant Buffalo Wild Wings logo all of your car like this:
If you do want to proceed with the campaign, Carvertise will set you up with a professional installer who will wrap your car. They’ll also take it off after the campaign is over, which can last anywhere from 2-6 months.
How much can you make from Carvertise?
Carvertise pays around $100/month to advertise on your car. Again, these campaigns typically last a few months. You’re paid monthly via direct deposit.
You will want to withhold some of those earnings for side hustle taxes – 30% is the general rule.
You’re obviously not going to get rich from this source of passive income, and I also don’t think it’s safe to assume it will be a steady stream of income. Remember, you need to be matched with campaigns, and if you stop driving as much for some reason, you’ll no longer be eligible.
What do people have to say about Carvertise?
When I was searching for Carvertise reviews online, I struggled to find very many negative reviews. Carvertise has a 4.7 out of 5 stars on Facebook reviews.
Most of the reviews are similar to this one:
I have seen a couple of Carvertise reviews that complain about having the wraps removed when the campaign is over, but overall it sounds like a solid company.
How to watch out for scams
When I was doing my due diligence and reading Carvertise reviews, I came across this on their Facebook page:
And after doing more research, I saw a bunch of articles about car wraps scams, including one from the FTC about how scammers are targeting college students.
Carvertise will not send you a check in the mail. They do not pay by check. Carvertise’s main competitor, Wrapify, also does not pay by check. Legit companies pay by direct deposit only.
The FTC warns that if someone contacts you from social media or a job board because they saw your profile and thought you’d be a good fit for their “company” this is a major red flag. Legit car wrapping companies will not reach out to you – they don’t have time for that.
Another major red flag for any scam is if they try to send you a check saying they’ll pay you to advertise on your car, but first, deposit the check and wire the bulk of it to someone else. They might claim it’s going to a professional installer or mechanic. Legit companies will not ask you to pay anything.
Check scams are really common with car wrap scams, as you saw in that Facebook thread. What happens is that the check will bounce a few days to a couple of weeks later, after you’ve wired the money. Not only is there no way to get your money back, but you also have to pay the bank back for the fake check.
This kind of stuff makes me really freaking mad, but if you know how to spot these scams, you’ll be able to tell which companies are legit and which aren’t.
Is Carvertise worth it?
Carvertise is easy, passive income, but you’ll have to be okay with basically driving a billboard around for a few months.
If you are okay with turning your car into an ad, then sure, Carvertise is worth it. It would be a good way to offset the cost of car insurance, extra money towards debt payments, or some cash you can start micro-investing with.
Another passive way to make money with your car is to rent it out on platforms like HyreCar, Turo, or Getaround. These companies are all a little different, but the premise is that your car is rented out for personal use or to be used by rideshare and food delivery drivers. Carvertise review – the final word
Carvertise won’t be for everyone, but I imagine it would prompt some really interesting conversations with strangers if you signed up. Maybe add “make new friends” to the list of benefits?
In all seriousness, Carvetise is a legit company that pays around $100/month to place advertisements all over your car. And you can feel confident you’re working with a solid company and not falling victim to a car wrap scam.
